Hi
Many thanks for raising the issue up on your site about painkillers and the negative sides to them.
My story was certainly not easy to tell, however as you put forward- how has this been allowed to happen? My question exactly, and hence my going public.
This should not have happened, especially after admiting to the problem to health proffessionals over 2 years ago and still being no more closer to total withdrawal.
My story is complicated, and many issues to it,as disscussed when I appeared on This Morning, however,I, my patner and my children agree, any over the counter painkiller containing a narcotic should be more controlled,it is a fact that it can take as little as 3 days to start becoming addictive, and you do not neccesary have to have an ADDICTIVE personality to be at risk of these highly addictive tablets.I became dependent on a gps long term prescription of pain relief over 8 Months! and realising my then dependency went on to buying over-the-counter knowing narcotics could be bought,it was not an issue at all for me personaly about my self control, once you become addicted,it becomes an illness, one that is so difficult to cure.
Thankyou for posting this on your site,it is off great interest to see what people generally feel.
With kind regards
Jo
Hi Jo,
Thank you for your email. I think you are an exceptionally brave person for going public with your story and I sincerely hope that you find success in dealing with this.
Like you, I find it difficult to understand why these types of medications are so easily obtained and there simply has to be some sort of regulation applied to them. The companies that make them also have a lot to answer to if you ask me.
Although I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through I can relate to it in a small way. I am trying a natural pain killer at the moment and ‘weening’ myself off my regular pain killers (Nurofen and Panadeine Forte) has been a nightmare. Increased pain levels, headaches, nausia, dizziness etc etc, it would be so much easier just to take a Nurofen or Panadeine and I guess this is why these problems start. Non-addictive, yeah right!!
I really do wish you all the best in dealing with this and I applaud you for sharing your story and I am sure that by doing this you have helped other people avoid the same situation. Please take care of yourself and once again I hope that you have success in dealing with this.
I got some Heal n’ Soothe and have used it. It seems to work ok but then again I was already doing other stuff, the inversion table, my Exerciser Elite 2000 by Clark Enterprises and my Lose-the-Back-Pain daily exercises to keep off pain medicines (over the counter stuff).
But I have two questions, 1) why is this stuff so expensive?! (I can’t come up with a logical reason why 3-4 bottles “on sale” could possibly be worth “only” $138, or be “only” $50 per month; it comes down to nearly $1.75 per capsule or over $5.00 per dose!) 2) I notice each three capsule dose supplies %150 of your MDR of vitamin E. I’ve read too much vitamin E can be harmful to you, liver damage etc. Since this isn’t FDA approved, I’m nervous about taking this, even if it was reasonably-priced on a longterm basis with no longterm studies and nothing more than anecdotal reports of its effectiveness. So-called health supplements are not risk free, some herbs such as St. John’s Wort are actually pretty dangerous, especially if mixed with other stuff. Thanks!
Hi Pete,
When I first came across Heal N Soothe I was spending close to $100.00 per week on prescribed medication so at the time $49 per month seemed like a pretty good deal! I do understand where you are coming from though, when you break it down it is quite expensive on a ‘per dose’ scale.
You also bring up a valid point about the Vitamin E intake from taking the recommended dose. As a reseller of the product I am not in a position to answer your questions reliably, however if you post your concerns on the discussion forum – http://www.losethebackpain.com/back_pain_discussion_forum.html or contact The Healthy Back Institute people themselves – http://www.losethebackpain.com/contactus.html I’m sure they will be able to provide you with more information.
